ITS support for the TSM backup service continues; support is ending for TSMDaily and Ida Update Archived
*Update*

While TSMDaily support is ending, support for the TSM backup service is not ending.

TSMDaily was a helper application written by ITS to schedule backups using TSM on Windows 7 and XP PCs. Existing scheduled TSM backups should continue to run, but no new installs or reinstalls of TSMDaily will be available. TSM users can also run manual backups. For more information on manual backups, visit http://www.queensu.ca/its/managed-services-windows/tsm-backup.

ITS provides the following services for storing your data:

Previous Description (2016-03-02 09:19:57):

Information Technology Services (ITS) is ending support for two tools that were developed by ITS at a time when data and applications were not in the cloud or on file servers.

TSMDaily (http://www.queensu.ca/its/software/tsmdaily) is a utility that used TSM to perform backups of local data (on your PC or laptop). ITS is discontinuing support for TSMDaily and will be offering alternative solutions for the Queen's community. Refer to the TSM Backup page at http://www.queensu.ca/its/managed-services-windows/tsm-backup for more information.

Ida, the ITServices Desktop Assistant, aided in the installation and configuration of Windows applications. ITS recommends that you uninstall it prior to the shutdown of the Ida server on March 30, 2016. See the Ida FAQ at http://www.queensu.ca/its/software/ida/faqs for details.
