Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise - Device-based Licensing - IT Services
ArchivedNo-RSS
The Managed Desktop team will be rolling out changes to the licensing model for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (Office) on all Corporate, Windows, AD/AAD joined devices within IT Services today, before extending to the broader Queen's community in coming months. As part of this change, we will be switching from user-based (default experience where a user signs in to Office to activate it against their NetID) to device-based licensing which will tie the installation of Office to the device rather than the user.
We expect this change to be transparent to users and no action is required on your part. After the change, the device-based licensing will take effect once all the Office apps have been closed and re-opened or when the device restarts, whichever happens first. To determine if the change was successful on your device you can go to File -> Account, in any of the main Office apps, and under the Product Information section, instead of "Subscription Product for <NetID@queensu.ca>", you will see "Subscription Product for This Device".
If you experience any problems with Office after the change, specifically relating to activation status, please contact the Support Centre.
