WebPublish Authoring Environment Upgrade: 8am - 10am, Tuesday, December 14 Archived
System Name: authoring.wp.queensu.ca

Services Affected: WebPublish Authoring Environment

Maintenance Timeline: 8am - 10am, Tuesday, December 14

Details:

Please note, only the editing environment will be unavailable; all sites on the Authoring server will still be viewable by the public.

Here is a summary of changes:
* Allowed assets can now have all upper-case or all lower-case extensions.
* Files with Office 2007 extensions (.docx, .pptx, etc.) have been added to the list of allowed assets.
* Allow a user who has the Edit and Review role to Publish a page without first having to Submit it.
* "Force Check-in" functionality has been added. This allows a user with the Admin role to check-in a page that another user in the system forgot to check-in.
* Upgrade the rich-text editor. The new rich-text editor is more compatible with the latest browsers (Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8 and Safari 5).
* Accessibility: If a description (or "alt" tag) is not specified for an image, a blank "alt" tag will automatically be added. This tells a screenreader that the image is for visual formatting only. Please remember to add a description to all images that serve any other purpose.
* Limited release: Do not require .html to be added to the end of a URL. At present we are rolling this update out only to specific WebPublish sites. Please contact us if you are interested in having this change made to your site.
