Internet Explorer 11 Issues - VPN and QWA Workaround Archived
Recently Microsoft started to push Internet Explorer 11 as part of automatic updates.

This has caused problems for both VPN (vpn.queensu.ca)and Outlook Web App, QWA (qwa.queensu.ca) access. In the VPN, the error will be evident when the 2nd login to Peoplesoft will not appear. The problem will be evident at the QWA login page as "Use the light version of Outlook Web App" will be checked and you will not be able to clear the check box. Once logged in, the email interface will look much different than what you would have been using previously.

To correct both problems, ITS recommends that you run Internet Explorer 11 in compatibility mode to access both VPN and QWA sites. This change applies to all sites at Queen's and may result in undesired effects to other pages. If you wish to run IE in compatibility mode, open IE 11, press F10 to display the menu bar, go to the Tools menu and then click Compatibility View settings. Add queensu.ca to the list of sites to be viewed in compatibility view. Once this change is made, Internet Explorer will remember the change and both VPN and QWA will be accessible as before the update. If this is not desired, users do have the option of installing Firefox to access these pages. Firefox can be downloaded from http://www.firefox.com
