ITServices has received several external notices of publicly accessible devices that have the Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) running and answering queries on the Queen's network. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Service_Discovery_Protocol
These devices can be used to attack other organizations through Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS).
A remote, unauthenticated attacker may also be able to execute arbitrary code on the device or cause a denial of service to the device.
To prevent the Queen's network from being a launch point for such attacks across the internet, ITServices will be blocking the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) port 1900/udp at our internet borders.
