Compromised and Spoofed Accounts used to Send Phishing Email Archived
Compromised Account:
ITS has received several calls concerning a Phishing Email that originated from a queensu.ca account. The subject of the email received is "Important Notice"

The account was quickly disabled and is no longer sending out the messages.

This email contained a suspicious link that many users determined was a phishing attempt by hovering over the link to see the embedded URL, but not clicking on it.

Spoofed Accounts:
ITS has also received reports of emails being received that spoof the sender to make it appear to come from Queen's Administration. If you are not expecting an email from the sender, or if the request seems odd based on your knowledge of the topic being referenced, please take the time to investigate the email further before acting on the request.

Additional information is available on the ITS Phishing Awareness information page.
