Mac OS X – Sierra not supported by IT Support Centre Archived
On September 20, Apple released the operating system Sierra for Mac users. Information Technology Services (ITS) would like to remind Mac users that the Sierra operating system will not initially be supported by ITS. This delay in support will allow for compatibility testing with our supported software and services. Please check the Sierra Testing page (http://www.queensu.ca/its/software/sierra-testing) for updates on the progress.

Once Sierra becomes an ITS-supported operating system, it will appear on the Supported Software page (http://www.queensu.ca/its/software) as “Supported” as opposed to “Transitional.”

Updating any software to a new major release should include the consideration of whether the software and services you use to complete your business activities are supported by the update. If you are unsure, you should wait to perform the update until either the software shows as Supported on the ITS Supported Software page, or until you have verified with the vendor that all products that may be affected by the update are supported.

If you choose to upgrade before Sierra becomes Supported, please follow best practices by ensuring you have current backups, have applied all Office updates and have verified that critical applications are supported by the application vendor.

If you have any questions, please contact the IT Support Centre by calling 613-533-6666 during regular business hours or by filling out the Online Help Form (http://www.queensu.ca/its/helpform).
