Email messages may be lost if auto forwarded from Office 365 Archived
Due to an increase in the adoption and use of email security features by other email providers, (Yahoo, Facebook, AOL, LinkedIn, etc.) some email messages that have been auto forwarded from Office 365 are being rejected by other email providers. (Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc.)
For example, if you receive a message from Linkedin.com and you have auto forwarding set on your Office 365 mailbox to your personal Gmail account, the message will be rejected by Google. If your Office 365 account is configured to delete messages that are auto-forwarded, you will have no record of the rejected message.
Email messages originating from Queen’s accounts are not affected by this issue.
Microsoft is working on a solution that will be implemented in a few months. Queen's users should ensure their account is not configured to delete mail that is auto-forwarded to another email system as this could cause a loss of email. ITS recommends that anyone who uses auto-forwarding on their Office 365 account configure it to keep a copy of the message in their Office 365 mailbox and that they check this mailbox regularly for missed email.
