External calling issues on Monday were caused by a signaling failure at the Toronto Front Street telecommunications hub and affected numerous telecom providers.

There is a telephone network problem affecting numerous customers in Ontario. Most outgoing calls are given long periods of silence followed by a fast busy signal. The expected time of repair is unknown at this time.
911 calls are not affected by this at Queen's.

IT Services has received reports that a number of telephones on campus are unable to place external calls. Internal calling is unaffected at this time.
IT Services is currently investigating this issue and will provide an update as soon as information becomes available.
