External calling unavailable on some campus devices Update Archived

External calling issues on Monday were caused by a signaling failure at the Toronto Front Street telecommunications hub and affected numerous telecom providers.

Previous Description (November 6, 2018 09:06):

Although we have not received a final confirmation from the service provider external calls from the University are working. This notification will be updated when the provider closes the trouble ticket.

Previous Description (November 5, 2018 12:08):

There is a telephone network problem affecting numerous customers in Ontario. Most outgoing calls are given long periods of silence followed by a fast busy signal. The expected time of repair is unknown at this time.
911 calls are not affected by this at Queen's.

Previous Description (November 5, 2018 09:59):

IT Services has received reports that a number of telephones on campus are unable to place external calls. Internal calling is unaffected at this time.

IT Services is currently investigating this issue and will provide an update as soon as information becomes available.
