Planned Network Outage Saturday, February 16 from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Archived
There will be a planned network outage on Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

During the outage period, there will be campus Internet access and the main Queen's website (www.queensu.ca) will be available. However, most Queen's web-based services and applications will be unavailable. This includes but is not limited to:

-All PeopleSoft administrative systems, including SOLUS
-Moodle
-Queen's email - Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 (mail will be queued and delivered following the outage)
-Listserv mailing lists (mail will be queued and delivered following the outage)
-WebPublish (this includes live WebPublish websites, as well as access to the WebPublish authoring environment)
-QShare
-Queen's Wiki
-Streaming Service
-eServices Applications

The IT Support Centre will be answering calls about the network outage between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 16. They can be reached at 613.533.6666.

This outage is occurring in order to complete the next phase of changes that are part of our fundamental improvements to the network infrastructure. The primary benefit of these changes is that we will be able to continue to provide services in the event of a core network outage.

Moving forward with this component of the network infrastructure project has been accelerated in response to recommendations made in the incident report that followed the campus-wide network outage experienced on January 4, 2013.

Through this network improvement project, we look forward to systematically delivering a more resilient and reliable network to the Queen's community and its users.

Thank you,
